Currently…
a little obsessed with non-verbal communication, I’m working with the possibilities of capturing the full body of language found in hand gestures in a new series, Kinesics. I’m also expanding on the Fire Liken series and exploring the feel of color and softer fire. And elsewhere, as always, I’m experimenting.
Public Art
Filaments
For Critical Massive MMX, a regional art festival, I created a sacred sound space among the trees. A space surrounded by cotton webbing and capped under a natural web with chimes and spiders and spiraled cascades pouring out of the trees, Filaments features a portal pedestal in the center topped with a marble ripple. The space is to harmonize with nature and to study a more subtle and quiet interaction with our environment. The space was very well received.

Collaborations
Crossroads – In Progress with the Iron Monkeys
For Burning Man 2010, we’re creating an 8′ high fire and water fountain flanked by 12′ steel columns that enclose a courtyard and sculpture gallery of invited artists. We’re leaving tomorrow!

The Basement Art Studios
I’m currently working with a few other collaborators to turn an old basement in my apartment building in downtown Seattle into a resident art workspace with studios and community tables for painting and mixed media projects. It’s an exciting opportunity to bring affordable art space into Pioneer Square and create a community of artists.
